Are you trying to do an outside-the-box UU “Ministry”?
I have been there. It was a ton of fun, but it was also incredibly hard. So hard that if it had been just a bit harder, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. Once the UU Hysterical Society got to the point where it was self funded, I found myself thinking the same sentence over and over again… This needs to be easier for the next person.
In the years since then, I’ve worked with people creating all kinds of interesting stuff… Podcasts, Tik Tok channels, in person art installations and retreat based communities, zoom communities, a D & D religious education curriculum, itinerant preaching careers… You name it.
If you are making UUism in the form of a congregation, there is so much collective wisdom out there. Those of us doing something a little different… Well, there’s a lot you need to figure out for yourself.
But you don’t have to do it by yourself. Reach out.
Then, we book an hour’s zoom call. You tell me about what you’re up to, and we talk about it. I can help you work through the biggest road blocks, tell you about what others before you have done, connect you with people and resources that might be useful. You can share with me what you’ve learned so far, so that I can share it with the next person. definitely
It’s that simple. And it’s free. Not in an upsell kind of way, either—I don’t have a coaching business, I don't accept ongoing clients. I generally don’t have more than an hours’ worth of helpful stuff to offer, anyway. This is just me paying it forward, because people helped me when I needed it.
You can reach me through my contact form.
P.S. If you’re staring out with travel preaching, specifically, definitely reach out. I probably don’t have a zoom call’s worth of stuff to tell you, but a few of us who are doing it successfully put together a google doc of collective wisdom of how we did it.
